Does the outside of your hip hurt when walking? Does climbing stairs or standing on one leg increase the pain? Is prolonged walking becoming uncomfortable? Are you searching for a βphysiotherapist near meβ for persistent outer hip pain?
Why Does It Occur?
Outer hip pain may be associated with greater trochanteric pain syndrome, involving irritation of the tissues around the hip, including the gluteal tendons. Weak hip muscles, sudden increases in activity or poor movement control may contribute.
How Physiotherapy Helps
β’ Assesses hip strength, mobility and walking mechanics.
β’ Identifies activities that may be overloading the hip.
β’ Progressively strengthens the gluteal and hip muscles.
β’ Improves pelvic control, balance and functional movement.
β’ Guides a gradual return to walking and exercise.
What You Can Try at Home
Avoid suddenly increasing walking distance or repeatedly standing on one leg. If lying on the painful side increases symptoms, change your sleeping position and use a pillow between your knees. Keep active within comfortable limits rather than completely resting.
If outer hip pain persists or affects walking, consult Dr. Deepika Bansal, physiotherapist, serving Balewadi, Wakad, Aundh and Pimple Saudagar. Personalised physiotherapy can help improve hip strength, movement and activity tolerance.
