Does your knee or hip hurt when squatting? Is it difficult to squat fully or get back up? Does the pain appear while using the toilet, gardening or picking something from the floor? Are you searching for a βphysiotherapist near meβ for painful squatting?
Why Does It Occur?
Squatting requires coordinated movement of the hips, knees and ankles. Limited ankle or hip mobility, muscle weakness, poor movement control or joint irritation can increase stress during the movement.
How Physiotherapy Helps
β’ Assesses hip, knee and ankle mobility and strength.
β’ Identifies movement patterns contributing to pain.
β’ Strengthens the quadriceps, glutes and supporting muscles.
β’ Improves balance, flexibility and lower-limb control.
β’ Gradually retrains functional squatting according to individual ability.
What You Can Try at Home
Do not repeatedly force a painful deep squat. Keep your feet stable and knees aligned with your toes. Use support when needed and practise a comfortable squat depth before gradually increasing it. Regular hip, ankle and leg mobility exercises may also help.
If squatting remains painful or limits everyday activities, consult Dr. Deepika Bansal, physiotherapist, serving Balewadi, Wakad, Aundh and Pimple Saudagar. Personalised physiotherapy can help improve mobility, strength and functional movement.
